Maiden strikes from Sammy Ndung'u and Keziron Kizito propelled AFC Leopards to the 2017 GOtv Shield quarterfinals as the nine-time champions overcame National Super League outfit Bidco United 2-1 at the Thika sub-County Stadium, Wednesday afternoon.
The duo clashed from 3pm with a quarterfinal date against Wazito FC on the offing.
It was the top tier Leopards who came out tops with fullback-cum-winger Ndung'u netting the opener at the quarter hour mark Leopards would hold on to the lead into and past the half time break. Ugandan midfielder Kizito pretty much assured his employers of victory when he grabbed the second in the 73rd minute.
Bidco pulled one back in added time but it proved too little too late as Leopards' new boss Robert Matano registered his second victory in as many games in charge.
The result earns the 2013 champions a last 8 encounter against Wazito, 2-0 victors over fellow NSL side GFE 105 last weekend.
Holders Tusker FC are among the quarterfinalists which includes five teams from the top tier, two from the NSL and one lone survivor from Division 2.
